Art Therapy
Creating Space for Healing, One Brushstroke at a Time
At Doors of Hope, we know that healing doesn’t always come through words—especially for children and teens. Sometimes, healing begins with color, creativity, and the freedom to express feelings that are hard to say out loud.
Art therapy is a powerful tool that allows children, youth, and families to explore emotions, reduce stress, and build self-awareness through creative expression in a safe and supportive environment.
What Is Art Therapy?
Art therapy uses painting, drawing, sculpting, collage, and other creative activities to help individuals express and process emotions. It’s not about being “good at art”—it’s about using art as a way to:
Communicate feelings and thoughts
Cope with anxiety, depression, or trauma
Build confidence and emotional resilience
Improve focus, behavior, and mood
Process grief, loss, or family changes
Strengthen identity and self-worth
In art therapy, creativity becomes a voice—a way for young people to be seen, heard, and understood.
